You can create and print belt certificates directly from DojoExpert! We’ve prepared a few beautiful templates which you can edit and use, but you can also create your own design.
Find the interface in the “Achievements” menu.
Here is how it works:
- After entering promotion details, you can print certificates for all members promoted on a selected date.
- You can select one of our predefined templates or you can create your own
- Edit the template text if needed, then click “Merge and print” to generate a PDF file
- Print your certificates from the PDF

Create your own certificate design
Select “new template” from the template dropdown to create your own certificate design. The lines in the editor outline an HTML table where you can add text, images, and other content. Start by adding a background image for your design, such as one you created in Photoshop or downloaded from the web. Right-click inside the table and select “Table properties”:
Click the image icon to upload the image file, then click “ok”:
The image stretches to fit the table. For best results, use an image more than 1000 pixels wide.
To position items on the left or right of your certificate, add a table inside the existing table using the “insert table” icon. You can also add images, such as logos.
Select “merge field” in the editor to insert a placeholder for database information. For example, {fname} represents a member's first name. When you click “merge and print”, the placeholders are replaced with actual database values. This lets you create personalized certificates for all members who passed an exam in a single PDF file.
Print your certificates from the PDF file. Each certificate is on a separate page, so you can print selected pages if needed. You can also create a certificate for one member, for example to send by email. Email delivery is not yet automated.
To print a certificate for a purpose other than a belt exam, click “print design” below the editor to print the template.
Modify existing templates
You can customize our templates to suit your needs. We recommend first clicking “copy” below the editor and working on the copy so the original remains available in your account.
